Android phone sound quality evaluation--OPPO Finder X907

The OPPO Finder is an ultra-thin Android smartphone with a compact internal design, a Super AMOLED Plus screen, and an integrated Speaker and antenna design that allows the phone to be only 6.65mm thick. By convention, what we released today is its sound quality assessment.

OPPO Finder is a mobile phone designed to pursue perfect workmanship, but in order to pursue the ultimate thin and light body, OPPO made a compromise on the most important earphone interface design. The OPPO Finder uses a Micro USB patch cord to bring up a 3.5mm headphone jack. I believe everyone knows that such a design will bring inconvenience in use, but the design of OPPO Finder is somewhat helpless?

The OPPO Finder uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 8260 processor as the audio unit performance of the Qualcomm chipset, and we have already had a system summary. The Snapdragon S3 has not changed substantially from the old chipset. The Qualcomm chipset hardware has a 44.1 kHz inferior SRC problem. This is not something that can be changed by software corrections. The OPPO Finder is currently running the Android 4.0.3 operating system. Although many news reports that the system audio architecture has been greatly improved under Android 4.0, it has not been felt in the devices we are currently exposed to.

Objective test:

E-MU 1616M PCIe Digital Audio System

In accordance with established practice, we conduct a set of objective tests on the earphone output of the OPPO Finder. The test is also in the form of a professional-grade sound card input, combined with common analysis methods to provide intuitive measurement results. In the test, we found that using the OPPO Finder default music player will cause a signal overflow [regardless of the volume level], and installing Google Play Music, the official application encountered the same problem. I believe that OPPO Finder is calling and modifying the Play Music app service at the bottom of the system. We had to use the "neutron player" for objective testing. Test audio files in FLAC format. When the default player software plays a standard level, the OPPO Finder has an output level of -21.5dB at maximum volume and an output level of -18.5dB using a neutron player. [It was later discovered that the default player turned on the Dolby Mobile sound option.

From the objective test, the SRC problem of the Qualcomm chipset is of course unavoidable. In the test using the neutron player software, we see that the distortion of the high-frequency part is mainly caused by the problem of the Qualcomm chipset itself, but Compared to the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE we tested earlier, the OPPO Finder performed slightly worse. Let's look at the overflow problem of the frequency sweep when using the default player. This has nothing to do with the volume setting. This is because the Dolby Mobile sound is turned on in the option, and the high school low frequency gain, surround sound, etc. can be easily used in the moving sound effect. Settings. In addition, in the 48kHz frequency scan, OPPO Finder will still have the Android system forced SRC problem.

Subjective listening:

The audio unit of the Qualcomm chipset is integrated into the SoC's main chip. From the test of so many Snapdragon series chips and OPPO Finder, we found that although the default player has only -21.5dB output level, its headphone driver The force is not as weak as the output level shows, which means that the Snapdragon audio unit allows for a larger output current to ensure better headphone output drive. OPPO Finder has a relatively high-powered headphone driver regardless of whether you use a third-party player or the default player. It has a large enough volume and good dynamics when paired with small earbuds. However, from the sense of hearing, it is easy to find that the OPPO Finder default music player has added Dolby mobile sound effects. Its low-frequency sense is obviously a lot, and it can be heard that it is the fluffy feeling that has been processed. In the middle and high frequency part, some sound effects are also added, the sound density is improved, and the high frequency is also stiff. This kind of sound processing makes some positive improvements in some music, such as OPPO Finder's advertising music, but the loss of details, and in many cases the problem of sound distortion is more obvious. When using the neutron player, its headphone driving force is still good. Generally speaking, it is similar to the sound style of the Qualcomm chipset that was heard before. The sound details are generally good, the sound is not clean enough, but the dynamic is relatively good, which is more suitable. Pop music.

to sum up:

The OPPO Finder smartphone cannot avoid the defects of the Qualcomm chipset in the audio unit due to the use of the Qualcomm chipset. Of course, as a mobile phone, the Qualcomm chipset seems to bring more advantages to other major functions. OPPO Finder sacrifices the standard 3.5mm headphone output function configuration due to the 6.65mm ultra-thin body design, which makes it necessary to use a Micro USB adapter cable when using headphones. It is undoubtedly for users who often need headphones. Some inconvenience. The OPPO Finder built-in player incorporates Dolby Mobile sound, which can be turned off or simple intensity settings. But overall, the overall performance is not very good due to the limitations of the Qualcomm chipset.
