Strong future demand for PCB market Enterprises "environmental pressure" increases

Someone once jokingly said, "I have all my body charged." This is the characteristic of the era of electronic technology. According to statistics, 65% of the world's gross national product is now related to integrated circuits. With the industrial revolution brought about by smartphones and tablets, the demand for PCB products has been rising, and many PCB manufacturers have not stopped their expansion efforts while actively expanding their production capacity, and they are trying to seize the opportunity in an increasingly hot market.

Although the booming consumer electronics market is beckoning to PCB manufacturing and processing companies, the strong demand for the market has led to an increase in environmental protection "Yaoli", which will even hinder the pace of business development.

So, what kind of development difficulties will China's PCB industry face in the future? How will it withstand the test of environmental pressure and complete the expansion of the grand plan?

In order to further analyze the current status of China's circuit board production and processing enterprises and their plans for the future, the editorial special link of HC Silk India Special Network is located in Anhui Province, Mr. Chang Yong, the person in charge of the four-creation Electronics Co., Ltd., with whom A related discussion on the PCB industry.

Mr. Chang first delightedly disclosed to the author that his company is actively preparing for the listing and that there will be plans to further expand the scale and production at a certain stage of development. Mr. Chang further stated that one of the expansion listings is the strict assessment and certification of “environmental protection indicators”.

It is understood that in the production process of printed circuit boards, there are many kinds of wastewater containing heavy metal pollutants and organic wastewater containing high concentrations will be discharged, and how to deal with these wastewater has become a major problem for all PCB companies. At present, the PCB industry's environmental and resource issues and sustainable development issues have been placed at an unprecedented strategic height.

Market demand surged to expand output value into inevitable authoritative forecasts. In 2011, global PCB output growth will reach 7.0%, reaching 54.6 billion US dollars. By 2015, the global PCB will continue to maintain a stable growth of 6.5%, and the overall scale will be expected to reach 69.8 billion U.S. dollars. In the face of the rapid development of the global PCB industry, China has ushered in unprecedented opportunities for development as a PCB producer.

Mr. Chang introduced that Sony Electronics Co., Ltd. is advancing the market and has already submitted qualification declarations. He wants to expand the industry in the future. It is hoped that we can expand our operations through separate land acquisition. If we can expand the scale, we believe that it will take 3 to 5 years from the start of the land acquisition to the start of production, and the industrial chain will be greatly expanded. Regarding the proportion of PCB production and processing in the company's production value, Mr. Chang said that the production and processing of circuit boards is an important business of the company, but it has yet to occupy an absolute dominant position and will focus on future development.

PCB industry structure is transferred into the future trend As we all know, due to the geographical and economic development of the reasons, China's PCB industry clusters are mainly entrenched in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta region, especially the relatively strong companies are concentrated in Shenzhen, Suzhou, Kunshan and other places. However, over the years, with limited land, rising labor costs, and other incentives, it has been restrictive to expand production. As a result, many companies have invested in the embrace of the mainland. In Anhui alone, they transferred a lot.

In fact, the shift to the Mainland can change the industrial layout of PCB companies.

According to Mr. Chang, many electronic companies have migrated to inland areas in recent years, and there is a shift to Hefei. Hefei, as one of the three home appliances industry bases in China, has its unique advantages that attract more and more circuit board production and processing companies. However, all the PCB boards are now exported to Shenzhen and Kunshan for processing. The industries there are large and concentrated, and we mainly support the design along the lines. We do not have such large capacity.

The PCB industry is technology-intensive, capital-intensive, and labor-intensive. Mr. Chang said: The future pattern of the PCB industry will shift. The foreign PCB industry has gradually shifted to China; the south has shifted to the north; and it is also possible that domestic companies will transfer to Southeast Asia. As China's labor costs rise, China's management level is relatively perfect compared to that of other countries. Therefore, it is also a trend to choose to expand in Southeast Asia.

Sewage Discharge Large PCB companies are facing increasing pressure for environmental protection At present, China's mainland has gradually formed a cluster of PCB industry clusters focusing on the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta regions. Statistics show that there are approximately 1,500 PCB companies in mainland China, of which 52% are in the Pearl River Delta and 38% in the Yangtze River Delta.

This concentration of high density, in addition to triggering the "cluster effect", but also makes the environment a huge threat. As a result, laws and regulations promulgated in succession in recent years, including the Labor Contract Law, the New Enterprise Income Tax Law, and the clean production standards of the electroplating industry, have had a considerable impact on the operating environment of PCB manufacturers.

In this regard, Chang believes that the PCB industry is a relatively high barrier to the industry, with little money and no strong technology can enter this field. Unlike individual industries, a few million dollars can be invested to set up a company. Sometimes, tens of millions of investments cannot be seen. Especially in recent years, the state has very strict controls on environmental protection and ring skins.

Therefore, another reason for the shift of PCB companies in the Shenzhen area to the interior is that the environmental carrying capacity tends to be “saturated”. The state is not allowed to expand this part of the project and the industry is too concentrated. As a result, the tolerance level of pollutant discharge has exceeded the standard, and only diversions to the Mainland will ease the pressure on the environment.

If the quota is already exhausted, it will inevitably face environmental protection equipment that has been reduced or invested more expensively to meet the standards. Manufacturers who have set up factories, if they want to expand their plants, suffer from the inability to expand water quotas, and have to cut production. Strict environmental laws and regulations even require phase change to increase the rate of waste water recycling, to achieve the purpose of disguised requirements for manufacturers to reduce production. This approach is also the most difficult part for each PCB manufacturer.

Many environmental laws and regulations restrict manufacturers to seek alternative production bases early, including those in Southeast Asia and mainland China. At present, there are still manufacturers that expand their factory space, and they will generally use up their quotas in the next year or two. How the future PCB factory finds room for expansion in the limits of various environmental laws and regulations has attracted much attention.

Small editorial point of view: technological innovation to reduce environmental pressure The development trend of electronic equipment is the diversification of functions, miniaturization, environmental protection and low cost, which in response to the corresponding requirements for its PCB high density, lightweight, environmental protection and low cost, Traditional PCB processes and products are clearly difficult to meet the requirements of the new generation. In order to speed up the technological innovation and industrial revolution of traditional PCB production, truly energy-saving emission reduction, and even green pollution-free production.

In the interview, the author discovered that many corporate technology leaders said that printed electronics (digital inkjet printing) technology will lead the PCB industry to the “green production” road. It is reported that at present, some developed countries in the world have invested heavily in research and development of this technology.
