The top computer chip has reached 16 "cores", and to some extent, it is "born for the cloud." Yesterday, AMD, the computer chip giant, was the world’s first debuted Xiaolong 6200 series processor in Beijing and successfully carried a 16-core processor. The processor is said to have achieved a 89% increase in performance over competitors' similarly priced products.

This is AMD's first server CPU based on the latest "bulldozer" architecture and the world's first 16-core X86 processor. In this way, AMD will expand its competition in the field of computer chips to new territories. Intel has not yet introduced a 16-core CPU. From dual-core, quad-core to eight-core, the two companies have been very fierce in the battle for computer CPU in recent years. AMD also cited relevant evaluation data, pointing out that its 16-core product has a performance lead of up to 89% compared with competitors' similar price points, and it has a "real value for money."

What attracts people's attention is that AMD placed a global listing of this heavy product in Beijing, China, and sent a team of luxury executives from global chief marketing officer, chief information officer, and general manager of the commercial division to help out. The company's CEO, Roland Reed, recently stated that AMD will focus more on emerging markets, cloud computing, and low power consumption. The server and cloud computing data center are the core elements of this conference.

In an interview with reporters, Deng Yuanqi, AMD’s senior vice president and president of AMD Greater China, said that China’s primacy in the emerging markets of AMD. Deng Yuanzhang said that at present, cloud computing is very hot in China, and a large amount of investment has been made from the government to the enterprises. This is an important opportunity for AMD, and it is also the main reason for choosing China’s starting.

The new product has won the support of numerous partners. At present, new series of processors have been shipped to partners. Acer, HP, IBM, Dawning, Dell and other manufacturers related products will start selling. Deng Yuanlu revealed that the current 6200 series CPU has a considerable size of shipments. “Everyone is looking forward to it. This is a breakthrough for the entire industry.” Deng Yuanzhang said that he is very satisfied with the market acceptance of the 16-core CPU.

At the same time, AMD also announced the 2012 product development route, will add a new platform - Xiaolong 3000 series platform. The first processor, code-named "Zurich", was released in the first half of 2012.
