Dialog's SmartBeat â„¢ audio IC brings a new immersive headphone hearing experience

Beijing, China, May 13, 2016 – Dialog Semiconductor Corporation (Frankfurt Stock Exchange: DLG), a provider of highly integrated power management, AC / DC power conversion, solid-state lighting (SSL) and Bluetooth low energy wireless technology, has announced , Launched an open audio platform IC-DA14195 for active headphones. The product is packaged in a small 0.4mm pitch WLCSP package, providing extremely low power consumption and excellent processing performance. It brings the performance of high-end professional headphones to the mass consumer market, including ambient and echo noise cancellation, virtual surround sound, and voice control. The product can support up to 6 microphones in order to form a beam, thereby helping to realize innovative position-aware applications.

SmartBeat DA14195 integrates a 32-bit ARM® Cortex®-M0 microcontroller with a maximum operating frequency of 165 MHz and a C-language programmable 32-bit Cadence (Tensilica) HiFi 3 DSP with a maximum operating frequency of 290 MHz. The solution with optimized performance and low power consumption. The MCU can be dynamically tuned to further reduce power consumption, while the DSP also has extensive third-party audio algorithm support.

With the integrated step-down converter, DA14915 can be powered directly by USB or 1.9-5 V battery. A high-precision fuel gauge maximizes battery life and means that users can always know how long their music can be played. The shared memory architecture of DA14195 includes on-board cache, system RAM and DSP RAM. To provide maximum design flexibility, MCU code and DSP code can be stored in an external QSPI flash memory, allowing the memory size and cost to be adjusted for the application.

DA14195 is an open audio platform that can be used in conjunction with any audio codec, including Dialog's DA7217. This advanced codec provides excellent power / performance ratio, and includes voice trigger function, which can monitor voice commands and wake up DA14195 to start command recognition.

The modular and open software architecture has resulted in a software platform with super versatility and easy expansion. It provides all the necessary modules and flexibility to help developers create unique solutions. Power management is the core component, and the flexible audio API can support the independent creation of multiple data streams. The source code of the software is public so that users can fully customize it.

Dialog Semiconductor ’s senior vice president and general manager of the Connectivity, Automotive and Industrial Division, Sean McGrath, said: "As a leading professional wireless headset IC supplier, we are very pleased to now be able to expand our technology to bring these advanced features to fast Growing headphone consumer market. Headphones based on DA14195 enable consumers to use USB to connect to personal and online content libraries at high speeds with data rates up to 480 Mbps. In addition, DA14195 is also fully compatible with next-generation smartphones and computing connections Option USB 3.0 type C. "

DA14195 has already begun to provide samples. The products are in small size 81 solder ball 0.4mm wafer level chip package (WLSCP), which will be supplied in batches in the fourth quarter of this year.

Dialog's DA14195 and other audio, power management, and Bluetooth low energy technology-based solutions were showcased during the 2016 Asia Consumer Electronics Show (May 11-13, 2016, Shanghai, China).
