Lamps exported to the EU since 2013 must comply with electromagnetic field radiation requirements

The European Union has proposed EMF requirements for electromagnetic products (electromagnetic field radiation requirements). On November 1, 2010, CEN issued the standard EN 62493: 2010 for the evaluation of electromagnetic radiation for human body lighting equipment.

The standard proposes the evaluation requirements of the luminaire for electromagnetic radiation of the human body. The illuminating equipment required for EMF evaluation specified in the standard includes: for lighting purposes, has the basic function of generating and distributing light, and is intended to be connected to a low-voltage power supply network or All indoor and outdoor lighting equipment that works with batteries; general lighting equipment; one of the main functions is the multi-function equipment for lighting and the independent accessories for lighting equipment.

Currently, EN 62493:2010 has entered a transition period. The OJ Bulletin (OJ C 061 of 29/02/2012), published on February 26, 2012, incorporates EN 62493:2010 into the harmonized standard list of the LVD Directive, which was implemented on February 1, 2013.

To this end, the inspection and quarantine department reminds relevant lighting manufacturers to make the following preparations when exporting to the EU: First, pay attention to the requirements of the new standards, and send the products to qualified laboratories for testing and certification according to the new standards to ensure that the products meet the electromagnetic requirements. The second requirement is that enterprises should re-adjust the product design structure, evaluate the key electronic components used, configure relevant testing equipment, and strengthen their own quality system management and control; third, enterprises should pay attention to the new trends of EU regulations and timely update relevant Information to avoid the loss of control over the quality of products caused by technical barriers, leading to foreign notifications, export returns, trade claims, etc.
