4G commercial soon: the first batch of terminals will be available in November

The multi-city field test is carried out, the first batch of TD-LTE terminals has passed the network, and Apple ’s latest generation of iPhones is supported ... All signs show that the date of China Mobile ’s official commercial TD-LTE 4G is getting closer and closer.

TD-LTE multi-site measured rate up to 41M

As learned from the ongoing 12th National Games, China Mobile Liaoning Company (hereinafter referred to as Liaoning Mobile), as one of the strategic partners of this event, has fully deployed the TD-LTE network.

In 2012, Liaoning Mobile applied to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the group company to apply for the construction of a 4G trial network in Shenyang, becoming the 10th 4G pilot city in the country. The 4G trial network will mainly cover the main urban area of ​​Shenyang, and focus on covering all national games venues, official villages, athlete villages, media villages, railway stations, airports and other hotspots in Shenyang.

At present, Shenyang has built 820 4G base stations. The TD-LTE network is mainly built. The outdoor macro stations use the D frequency band. The system equipment comes from Ericsson, ZTE, and Xinyoutong. The relevant terminals are mainly MiFi and CPE. For example, using the 4G WiFi signal converted by CPE equipment, users can experience 4G high-speed Internet access using mobile phones, tablets and other devices.

From the actual measurement, the actual speed of TD-LTE download is about 29M to 36M, the average transmission speed is 34M, and the maximum speed is 41M, which is more than 10 times the current 3G speed. Simply put, it takes only one second to download a 7M high-quality song, and only a few minutes of 1G video.

In addition to the application scenarios of the event, 4G signal converters have also been installed on more than 4,000 buses in Shenyang. The Shenyang No. 214 bus took the lead in achieving the on-board 4G signal at the end of last month. According to the plan, by the end of this year, Shenyang will achieve full 4G coverage in the inner city of the Second Ring Road. In 2014, it will reach full coverage of 4G networks in 14 main cities of the province.

It is reported that in order to do a good job in the communication security work of this competition, in addition to TD-LTE, Liaoning Mobile has also carried out 2G, 3G, WLAN three networks collaborative coverage. A total of more than 2,700 emergency communication support teams were dispatched. There were 7 large emergency communication vehicles, 2 small emergency communication vehicles, 7 large emergency power generation vehicles, more than 1,000 portable generators, more than 60 satellite phones and other emergency supplies in the province.

At the same time, China Mobile quietly launched TD-LTE network measurement in Beijing. At present, more than 4,000 experience users in Beijing have obtained the applied 4G terminal and started a six-month test experience. According to Beijing Mobile, the coverage of its 4G network currently includes: the East-West North Ring Road and the area within the south to Liangguang Road; Tsinghua Peking University, China World Trade Center CBD and Park Expo and other areas.

According to the actual measurement of MiFi terminal and ZTE U9815 mobile phone, in addition to the above areas, the fourth ring has also been covered, the downlink speed reaches 28.04M, the uplink speed reaches 15.63M, and the average transmission speed is about 26M. At present, 400 4G base stations have been laid in Beijing. According to the plan, 1,000 will be built within the year.

At present, China Mobile has carried out TD-LTE scale-up trials in 15 cities across the country and launched a large-scale TD-LTE friendly customer test. The basic network construction is a prerequisite for 4G commercial use. Combining with the actual measurement conditions in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other places, the scale of China Mobile's TD-LTE network has achieved initial results. (Remarks: The theoretical peak rate of 4G network can reach 50M uplink and 100M downlink.)

The first batch of TD-LTE terminals went on the market in November

While the basic network is steadily advancing, TD-LTE terminals have finally unveiled the mystery. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has recently issued the first domestic 4G mobile phone network access licenses, which also means that TD-LTE 4G commercial use is within easy reach.

According to the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for Telecom Network Access Management, 4 products from 4 manufacturers have been the first to obtain 4G network access licenses. The date of certification is August 30, and 4 TD-LTE mobile phones with network access licenses are from Samsung , Sony, ZTE and Huawei, the phone models are Samsung GT-N7108D (GALAXY Note II), Sony M35T (Xperia SP LTE), ZTE U9815 (Grand Memo LTE), Huawei D2-6070 (Ascend D2 LTE), all support TD- LTE / FDD / TDS / GSM four modes.

Judging from the information learned by various companies, most of these models will be listed in batches from November to the end of the year, and are currently waiting for the issuance of TD-LTE 4G licenses by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

It is worth noting that multiple sources also show that Apple will release the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C that are compatible with both FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE networks at a press conference on September 10. Due to license issues, the launch of China Mobile's TD-LTE version of the iPhone may take some time, and there are reports that it is also around November. Although there is still no specific date for the issuance of 4G licenses, the first batch of 4G mobile phones has been granted network access permission, which can be regarded as a prelude to the issuance of 4G licenses.
