R & S THR9, as a new product that the company focuses on introducing to users, is the industry's most efficient and smallest liquid-cooled high-power FM transmitter. It can reduce customers' power consumption by up to 50%, while reducing maintenance and operating costs.
IBC2013, Amsterdam — The new R & S THR9 liquid-cooled high-power FM transmitter sets a new design and energy efficiency benchmark for the industry. The R & S THR9 has an output power range of 5kW to 40kW and supports digital standards (such as HD Radio) in the FM and VHF II frequency bands for future upgrades.
The unique MulTITX design of the new generation transmitter of R & S Company can integrate multiple transmitters into a cabinet, and its single cabinet can accommodate 4 10kW transmitters. In addition, R & S THR9 uses a liquid cooling system, which greatly reduces the space required for installation. This compact design allows the R & S THR9 to provide the industry's highest single cabinet output power and is also an ideal choice for small transmitter room designs.
Benefiting from innovative power amplifier design and rigorous system design, the R & S THR9 transmitter achieves ultra-high efficiency. For example, for power combiner and hard feed, the power loss of these two RF components is very small, so that the transmitter system uses FM modulation and the efficiency can reach 75% under full power transmission.
Compared with the traditional air cooling system, the liquid cooling system only needs to install a cooling hose, which can save about 40% of the floor space. If the MulTITX system is used, it can save up to 80% of the floor space. The cooling system of R & S THR9 contains two water pumps, and the heat exchanger contains two fans, both of which are 100% redundant, thus ensuring the safety and reliability of the cooling system.
The redundant architecture of R & S THR9 can support dual-exciter configuration, N + 1 configuration, or both. In an R & S THR9 cabinet, up to 3 + 1 system configuration can be achieved, which effectively saves space.
The functional design of R & S THR9 is based on the user's operating experience over the years, and is optimized for the user's actual needs. The design of the transmitter display unit is ergonomic and easy to operate. Whether it is remote control or local operation, you can intuitively access the various components of the transmitter and set different parameters through a friendly user interface. Customers can also connect the transmitter to the network management system to monitor and diagnose the status of the transmitter.
The R & S THV9 liquid-cooled transmitter and the R & S TMV9 air-cooled transmitter work in the VHF band and support DAB, DAB +, T-DMB, and AT-DMB standards, as well as DTMB, DVB-T / H, DVB-T2, ISDB-T / TB, ATSC digital TV and various analog TV standards. The maximum output power of the R & S THV9 single cabinet is 30 kW. It is also possible to configure 6 independent transmitters in a single cabinet, where the maximum output power of each transmitter is 4.3 kW. R & S uses Doherty technology's high-efficiency power amplifier. Under the digital TV standard, the overall efficiency can be as high as 46%, thereby saving customers about 50% in electricity costs.
