Generally, the tip structure is mainly made of copper, and the outside is plated with iron (iron plating layer), while the front end of the iron plating layer is plated with tin (tin plating layer), and the rear end is plated with anti-oxidation chromium. Since tin and iron are also highly reactive metals, they are easily combined into a mixed metal, especially at high temperatures. Moreover, the fluxes used in soldering (especially highly active) are also catalysts that accelerate their reaction to produce mixed metals.
When using the tip for the first time, adjust the temperature to 250 °C, then clean the tip and add a layer of new tin for protection. When soldering, clean the old tin on the tip, solder it, then put it. Return to the iron frame and repeat the above actions when soldering again.
The base of the soldering iron head is made of copper material with good heat transfer. The surface is plated with iron, tin and other materials. Since the soldering iron works quickly in the high temperature state, a steel tube is added to the copper tube to slow down the oxidation rate. In normal use, the oxide in the steel pipe should be cleaned in time. Try to use low temperature soldering. If the tip temperature exceeds 470 degrees, its oxidation rate is twice that of 380 degrees.
Do not wipe the soldering iron on the cleaning sponge and put it back on the soldering iron frame. Always keep the soldering iron on the soldering iron to prevent oxidation. Turn off the power after not using it for a long time.
