“The Weifang plant area has four epitaxial furnaces (MOCVD) in place, which are the most advanced equipment in the world.” The company plans to invest 1.69 billion yuan in 5 years to conduct “epitaxial, die, device and application products for semiconductor lighting”. Construction, adding MOCVD 30 sets, supporting one-stop post-process R&D and production equipment, forming 1.5 million pieces of red, yellow, blue and green LED epitaxial wafers, 27 billion cores, 10 billion devices, semiconductor lighting fixtures, etc. The annual production capacity of 2 million sets of products has an annual sales income of 4.2 billion yuan and a profit and tax of 800 million yuan.

“The construction period of the first phase of the project has been basically completed. In September, trial production in small batches has started. So far, sales of 72 million yuan have been realized.” Ren Zhongxiang said that the Inspur Huaguang Optoelectronics Factory is currently the largest in the world. The single LED factory building, from the construction to the start of operation, took only 18 months, which can be said to be a miracle in the history of purification plant construction.

The reporter learned that LED is increasingly used in the field of LCD backlights. The backlight uses LED instead of the traditional illumination mode. It has three advantages: one is that the volume of the illuminator is thinner; the other is more energy-saving; the third is that the color gamut is wider and the picture looks clearer.

LED TVs use this backlight technology. Ren Zhongxiang said with excitement, "This is an emerging market. The total output of epitaxial wafer companies in the world can only meet one-third of the market demand." It is conceivable how great the potential of this market is.

The market price of an ordinary backlight TV is about seven or eight thousand yuan, while the LED TV needs about 17,000 yuan. With this development direction, there is a market demand. With the market demand, this industry has been born, and this industry has a relatively good prospect.
