Enhanced FDP fiber provides longer product life
(Singapore – September 18, 2013) Polymicro Technologies, a subsidiary of Molex Corporation , a leading global supplier of complete interconnect products, recently announced an upgrade of its FDP fiber optic products. The latest performance improvements have improved fiber optic products in deep UV applications (190nm-325nm) Exposure.

Polymicro's silica core FDP fiber has ultra-high UV transmission and ultra-low UV exposure characteristics, and has excellent radiation resistance. Operating under conditions as low as 190nm, and having excellent resistance to exposure to deep ultraviolet light, FDP fiber has become the first choice of fiber products for deep ultraviolet applications. The new FDP fiber provides better resistance to exposure to maintain longer transmission times while minimizing damage to the fiber.
For applications in the deep ultraviolet field, the effects of high levels of ultraviolet radiation can cause fiber transmission degradation, which usually occurs after a few hours.
TIchindelean added: "Compared with previous product models, the improved FDP fiber can increase light output by approximately 10% after initial degradation. For Polymicro customers, this can translate into better light emission and longer product life. . "
