Next year, smart substation construction demand may surge

On December 16, 2010, State Grid announced the list of bid winners for the second batch of equipment for the sixth batch of projects in 2010 and the list of bid winners for the third batch of smart grid (first batch of smart grid secondary equipment). From the successful bid results, the share captured by XJ Electric [34.011.07%] and Guodian South [28.634.57%] in the smart grid area exceeded market expectations.

In this tender, the market share of traditional secondary equipment has changed greatly compared to the same period of last year. The number of relay protection devices in the substation was 457 sets, a decrease of 55.89% compared with the previous period; in 2010, the total number of relay protection equipment for substations was 5,232 sets, a year-on-year decrease of 5.08%. Judging from the cumulative market share of each company, the market share of Nanrui Insurance increased rapidly compared to the same period last year, while Xuji Electric's market share declined rapidly. In terms of absolute numbers, Nanrui Jibao and Guodian Nanrui (74.22-0.43%) recorded rapid growth year-on-year, with XJ Electric declining rapidly from the previous year.

Our research shows that in 2010, 257 sets of substation automation systems were bid-invited, an increase of 0.78% year-on-year. Among them, the market share of Guodian Nanzi and Dongfang Electronics [5.760.70%] increased year-on-year, while the market shares of Guodian Nanrui and Sifang Insurers declined rapidly. Judging from the absolute number, Eastern Electronics, State Power South, Jicheng Electronics [40.89-0.27%], XJ Electric Co., Ltd. experienced a year-on-year growth, Shenzhen Nanrui, and Guodian NARI declined rapidly.

In this tender, XJ Electric and Guodian South performed better than expected. The substation relay protection equipment was tendered a total of 222 sets. Among them, XJ Electric holds 32.88% and Guodian South accounts for 27.48%.
