Taiwan - Seoul Semiconductor ( http:// ) and its subsidiary Seoul Optodevice are rportely setting up a joint venture with Huga Optotech ( http:// ), a Taiwanes LED chipmaker.
According to its filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Huga will have a 49% stake in the joint venture, with the two Korean investors taking the total respectively. Huga hopes the joint venture will help it obtain long-term orders from overseas clients.
The Korean company didnt disclose any further confirmation, though. Meanwhile, Huga is supposed tol add 10 MOCVD growth systems in the second half of 2009. The company is now capable of producing 800 million LED chips.
