Audi's New Strategy: Three New EVs by 2020

Not long ago, Audi said that the new Audi A8 will be officially listed next year, the car has now appeared on the famous Nurburgring track for testing.

Now, Audi has revealed its goals and determination in electric vehicles. According to Reuters, Audi CEO Rupert Stadler said in an interview with the German newspaper:

Three new all-electric models will be introduced by 2020 as planned. The plan will be implemented starting in 2018 with the launch of three new EV electric vehicles by the end of 2020 at the speed of a new electric vehicle each year. The company hopes that before 2025, annual sales of electric vehicles will account for more than one-quarter of the company's annual vehicle sales.

This means that in the future, company-wide work will focus on the development and production of EV-electric vehicles, meaning that other companies may need to make way for this strategic plan and provide assistance. The new electric models will be released first in the name of the A-series models.

Also worth mentioning is that Audi's new A8 will be available next year. It will be Audi's first fully-autonomous driving system. Audi also revealed that it will create a subsidiary called SDS, which will be responsible for Audi's research and development of driverless cars. In hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the company is also conducting research and development work. Audi's purely automated driving system will be named Traffic Jam Assist. The system can completely control the vehicle without the driver's complete intervention, although it can only operate at a speed of 60 km/h.

It seems that Audi is really ready to zoom in on electric cars and autopilots. As for whether the plan will proceed as scheduled, time will be witnesses.
