Background of the project

Underground mine operations need to implement an information system to manage underground personnel and ensure their safe production. In China, a coal mine company is using the Moxa solution to integrate various data information in the mine into a network platform, and to transmit the safety production and environmental data downhole to the control center on the well.

Moxa solution

A coal mine automation system is composed of a distributed SCADA system and a CCTV video monitoring system, and is located in the underground control center and underground site. Moxa provides a powerful industrial-grade Ethernet solution that supports Gigabit networks, fast redundant recovery, wide temperature capability, and saves wiring costs. The specific structure is as follows:

● In order to ensure data transmission with the mine control center, two IKS-G6824 three-layer gigabit rack switches are used to form an efficient and flexible redundant network, which can transmit data, voice and video monitoring information from the mine.

● Adopt 10 compact modular EDS-619 series Ethernet switches to connect all subsystems, including distributed monitoring system, personnel positioning system, wireless communication contact system and CCTV video monitoring system. All switches are placed in explosion-proof boxes.

● In order to allow various data to be transmitted via Ethernet, NE-4000T embedded device networking server is also used in the field control device to realize the original serial port device on the site for data transmission via Ethernet. In addition, AWK-3121 wireless AP can realize the network communication of data through the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands of the network equipment that is difficult to wire underground.

● In terms of network management, MXview uses visualization technology to ensure that the managers in the well can easily manage the entire network. Through the intuitive graphical network topology display, the status of each node can be displayed. MXview also includes real-time alarm, historical data analysis and event playback functions for troubleshooting.
