The third largest transaction: Verizon 130 billion acquisition of shares held by Vodafone

Verizon Communications said on Monday that the company has reached an agreement with Vodafone Group to acquire a 45% stake in Verizon Wireless held by the latter at a price of 130 billion U.S. dollars. The effort finally succeeded. Currently, Verizon Wireless is the most profitable mobile service provider in the US market.

Verizon Communications issued a statement saying that under the terms of this agreement, Verizon Communications will pay Vodafone Group $ 58.9 billion in cash plus $ 60.2 billion of Verizon Communications stock, in addition to $ 11 billion from multiple smaller transactions, This means that the total transaction value reached 130 billion US dollars.

This transaction will become the third largest transaction in corporate history, and it also means that Vodafone Group, a British telecommunications giant, will withdraw from the huge but mature US market.

Verizon Communications said in a statement that the transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2014. Verizon Communications expects that the transaction will immediately boost its earnings per share by 10 cents per share without any one-time adjustments to its financial performance.
