According to the plan, the target of this stage is to have more than 210 million fixed broadband users by the end of 2013, and the fixed broadband penetration rate of urban and rural households will reach 55% and 20%, respectively. There are more than 330 million 3G / LTE users, and the user penetration rate reaches 25%. The coverage rate of 20Mbps broadband access capability in broadband users in urban areas reached 80%, and the coverage rate of 4Mbps broadband access capability in broadband users in rural areas reached 85%.
Broadband China strategy is a rare historical opportunity for communication operators. Focus on promoting broadband network optimization and technological evolution and upgrading, broadband network service quality, application level and broadband industry support capabilities have reached the world's advanced level. The goal is to reach 400 million fixed broadband users, a 70% household penetration rate, and fiber optic networks to cover urban households. Urban and rural household broadband access capabilities reach 50Mbps and 12Mbps respectively, 50% of urban household users reach 100Mbps, and some household users in developed cities can reach 1Gbps.
On the other hand, the rapid development of 3G and 4G mobile wireless networks and the dependence of users on it seem that fixed-line broadband is gradually moving away from people's lives. So why does the country have to vigorously develop broadband construction?
In this regard, Yu Xiaohui said that both fixed-line broadband development and wireless networks complement each other. To a large extent, fixed-line networks are the foundation of wireless networks.
