Onboard computer solution based on Intel Atom E3800

The Intel® AtomTM processor E3800 (original code “Bay Trail”) series features improved media/graphics performance, ECC, temperature range, comprehensive security, and integrated video signal processing. It can shorten the market investment time, improve the speed of integrated information application, reduce power consumption, etc., which satisfies the demand of the car network.

Based on Intel® AtomTM E3800 processor, support wide temperature operation, dual WWAN and SIM, built-in GPS, optional dead reckoning support, smart car power management and 4 mini-PCIe extensions. Support telematics for real-time voice and data transmission, vehicle tracking and navigation, mobile video surveillance and in-car entertainment information services. For on-board computer applications, you can use a DC replacement hard drive to support ACC-enabled DC on-board computer modules, but instead use mSATA for data storage support. Powerful video processing capabilities are integrated into the Intel® ATOM E3800 processor to deliver high-performance multimedia applications through dual independent displays. It also boosts up to 5 times the power performance of the previous generation 3D graphics. In addition, fanless systems provide better data integrity and system reliability through automatic data correction, and wireless communications are significantly important in automotive applications. To ensure effective communication, the system supports Wi-Fi and 4G/3G/GPRS Mini PCIe slots. It can be equipped with 1 SIM slot and 2 systems, which is more suitable for Wi-Fi antenna holes in wireless applications.

Program overview

The system-on-a-chip (SoC) is based on the Silvermont microarchitecture and is manufactured using Intel's industry-leading 22nm process technology. The E3800 Series SoCs deliver outstanding computing, graphics and media performance and operate in a wider range of thermal conditions. The product line includes: high I/O connectivity, integrated memory controller, error correction code (ECC) and built-in security features with a TDP range of 5W to 10W.
