Dow Corning's fourth quarter 2011 sales were $1.52 billion, a 4% decrease from the same period last year. This is due to the current turbulent global economy and the weakening of product prices. Net income was $260 million, an increase of 3% over the same period last year. Adjusted net income was $76.8 million, a 53% decrease from the same period last year.
The company's full-year sales in 2011 reached 6.43 billion US dollars, a record high. Adjusted net income fell by 15% compared to 2010. Adjusted net income excludes the benefits of long-term sales contracts.
