I just saved another screen! This is a repair log for a Skyworth 20L98TV. A few days ago, I got a call from a customer saying their TV wasn’t working. I asked for the address and went over. When I arrived, it was an elderly man in his 60s who had bought the TV several years ago. He said it was expensive and now there's no sound or image. I thought it might be a big job, but when I saw the old 20-inch Skyworth TV on the wall, my heart dropped a bit. The guy seemed eager to fix it, but he also mentioned that a previous repairman had replaced the mainboard without success and suggested changing the screen, which would be costly. He even said a friend told him I could fix it. I laughed and warned him that fixing the screen is risky, like doing major surgery on a patient. I told him I couldn’t guarantee anything, but if something went wrong, I’d do my best to fix it. He agreed and let me take the TV home.
At night, I opened the TV and noticed some strange behavior. The AU screen (A201SN02) had a faint light, and the logic board was powered by 5V. After checking the power supply and testing the motherboard, everything looked normal. But when I connected the screen cable, the display turned gray. I realized the issue was likely with the logic circuit. I checked the temperatures of the components and noticed one IC, AS34-G, was extremely hot. I tested it again after cooling down, and the problem persisted. I removed and tested all external components—capacitors, resistors, and transistors—but they all looked fine. Eventually, I concluded the AS34-G was faulty. I ordered a replacement from a supplier and installed it. To my surprise, the TV came back to life! It was a great feeling to see the screen work again after so many tests.
