LEDinside: In February 2012, the retail price of LED bulbs declined by nearly 20% in North America

According to the latest LEDinside LED bulb retail price survey conducted by research firm TrendForce, the retail price of global LED bulbs continued to decline in February of this year (2012), but the rate was smaller, and the price drop of 40-watt incandescent bulbs was replaced. About 0.1%. In the United States, prices dropped by about 19%, and the average price of replacing 40-watt incandescent bulbs has fallen below $20. In place of the 60-watt LED light bulb, the international average selling price reached US$33.6. The major price reduction regions were the United States and Japan.

In place of traditional 40-watt incandescent bulbs, LEDinside’s price cuts in the United States alone indicated that the price of replacing the traditional 40-watt LED bulbs has declined by a small margin in February, and the international average selling price has remained at around US$ 19.6. The main reason is that there was a 7% rise in prices in the South Korean region, mainly because some of the stocks went out of order after being cleared, making the minimum terminal price return to more than US$10. In addition, the latest statistics for the German region are relatively high, with an average selling price of approximately US$24. In addition, prices in Japan and the UK showed a slight decline, falling by 2% and 1% respectively. In the United States, price cuts have become apparent and the average selling price has come to 18 US dollars.

In lieu of 60-watt incandescent bulbs, the average global price continued to decline steadily in February, with a drop of about 5%. The United States dropped the most, reaching 14%. Followed by Japan, a decrease of 5%. The main reason for the decline in price in the two regions is that the price of the original low-priced products remained stable while the price of high-priced products was reduced. The number of LED bulbs that replaced 60W in the UK has increased, the price has dropped slightly by 2%, but the average price has not fallen below 40 US dollars. In addition, there was no significant change in the price of goods that replaced the 60 watts in February in South Korea, and the main line of branded products still maintained their original prices.

According to LEDinside's survey, Toshiba’s newly launched E-CORE LDT7 series in Q1 in 2012, the 7-watt product emits light at 300 degrees. Although the price is not low, it is similar to that of Mitsubishi Electric's LDA8 and LDA11. The luminous angle of the whole beam product, the latter's luminous angle reaches 330 degrees. The acceptance of such products in the market is still time-tested due to the high price, but its full-beam emission angle appeal is better than the general LED light bulbs with smaller conventional light-emitting angles in home and indoor space applications. The focus can be observed.

LEDinside said that in February 2012, prices of some 40-watt and 60-watt products in the United States fell sharply. The average price of 40-watt LED bulbs had dropped to 18 US dollars, making it the most competitive region after Korea. It can be seen that the country’s manufacturers are actively deploying card slots in the LED lighting market to participate in price competition.

In other regions, the overall retail price of LED bulbs declined less in February. In Asia, prices did not continue to decline sharply last month, but rather stabilized. The price of South Korea's replacement of 40-watt LED bulbs even rose slightly. LEDinside observed that the number of products that meet the quality and technical standards in the market is gradually increasing. Compared with blind price cuts, the national manufacturers are now tending to maintain the price stability while pursuing the characteristics of the product and increasing the price/performance ratio.
