According to the 2011 annual report released yesterday by the TCL Group, the company’s sales revenue last year reached 60.834 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.28%; of which, TCL Multimedia's sales revenue was 27.252 billion yuan, an increase of 16.19%; TCL Communications' sales revenue was 8.813 billion yuan. , a year-on-year increase of 16.35%.

Li Dongsheng said that the South Korean companies Samsung and LG have a high share of the global color TV industry, with little room for growth. Japanese companies are a bit like European and American companies 20 years ago. Due to the economic structure of Japan, the overall competitiveness has weakened. Li Dongsheng said that with the opportunity of structural adjustment and industry restructuring of the global electronics industry, TCL will maintain a rapid growth rate and “hope to cut more cake”. At the same time, product innovation and management innovation are needed because the entire electronics industry is transforming into an intelligent one.

Taking advantage of business opportunities in the smart era This year, IT giants such as Apple, Google, and Lenovo will all launch new televisions, and smart waves will come. Li Dongsheng said that this is an opportunity and a challenge for TCL. IT technologies such as smart Internet and cloud computing will bring new applications and market expansion to TV sets and mobile phones. The capacity of the US color TV market has increased from the previous 30 million units to 40 million units. After the color TV is transformed to intelligent, the market capacity of China's color TVs will also increase from more than 40 million units to more than 90 million units.

"Of course, the challenge is also great." Li Dongsheng said that TCL Multimedia (01070.HK) and TCL Communication (02618.HK) will strengthen collaboration. TCL has not set clear goals for mobile phone sales this year, focusing on the transition to smart phones. Li Dongsheng disclosed that since the second quarter of this year, shipments of TCL smart phones will increase. Currently, TCL is working with China Unicom (microblogging) to develop "Wo Phones."

TCL TV will also focus on smart TVs and 3D TVs this year to further increase gross margins. Intelligentization of color TV not only brings increase in sales, but also creates new market opportunities. This year, the 4.5-generation OLED pilot line was launched. At the end of last year, 55% of TCL Holdings' Huaxing Optoelectronics 8.5-generation LCD panel project was mass-produced, with a production capacity of 18,000 units per month. Huaxing plans to further expand its production capacity to 100,000 tablets/month this year, and the yield rate will reach 92%, becoming the new growth point for TCL. Li Dongsheng predicts that in the second half of this year or next year, the supply and demand of the global panel industry will tend to balance, and panel prices are expected to stabilize in the future.

As Samsung and LG are accelerating the transition to OLED, Huaxing will launch a 4.5-generation OLED pilot line this year. However, Li Dongsheng believes that OLEDs will not be able to replace TFT-LCDs in flat-panel TVs in the next 8 to 10 years.

White goods are another growth point. Last year, sales of TCL's home appliance business increased by nearly 60% year-on-year to RMB 6.5 billion. Li Dongsheng said that this year TCL will increase investment in inverter air conditioners and strive to create an economic scale for the air-conditioning industry.

Li Dongsheng disclosed that TCL’s “TCL Ace Store”, which cooperates with home appliances and multimedia, mainly focuses on three or four markets.
